Wear the life and flavors
of Maizuru, gently.
Accumulated culture and everyday life
are not broken apart,
but quietly wrapped anew
within the rhythms of life today.
Through stays and meals,
we carefully embrace the history, scenery,
daily lives, and food memories
that live and breathe in this town.
For travelers,
it is an entryway into the land of Maizuru.
For locals,
it is a place to rediscover
the character of this town
within their everyday lives.
Matoi quietly continues to exist in this town,
reconnecting what has been passed down from the past
with the life that is yet to come.

立地
Maizuru is a town where mountains embrace the bay, the harbor meets the land, and nature and everyday life blend seamlessly together. Located in Higashi-Maizuru, an area that flourished as a historic naval port, Matoi sits where the grid-patterned streets and the roads leading down to the harbor still carry the quiet traces of local life. Our hotel is nestled within a traditional shopping street on the way to the iconic red-brick warehouses and the fishing port.
Because it exists between a destination and a lived-in neighborhood, it offers a chance to naturally experience the quiet rhythm and everyday atmosphere of Maizuru. Although just a short walk from Higashi-Maizuru Station, the space has been thoughtfully restored to preserve the stillness and openness that have always belonged to this place—creating a calm retreat for those who wish to simply be here, in this town.
